Apparently the industry is going to take a while to recover from the recession, so what are we all going to do in the meantime?
From RIEO’s perspective, there is seemingly never a dull moment. Projects are continuing to fly, and the team is busy implementing wireless infrastructures for new and refurbished properties.
Most notably we have finalised installations at the new Village Hotel in Farnborough, along with adding the Village Bury to our fan base, which involved the removal of some rather unreliable domestic kit - not good in a busy hotel environment. Our biggest project to date, the Langham London, edges ever closer to completion and we look forward to updating you on this project in the coming weeks.
Like everyone, we are facing some quieter times ahead, but we will continue undeterred. We have a commitment to you, our chosen market of hotels, and in some ways this is a perfect time for us to invest in our product and software development. The RIEO solution is undergoing a major redesign, which will benefit our customers by giving them even greater control and flexibility, which we hope to start rolling out in the coming months.
But what can we do to help our market implement services so vital to stay ahead when there is little or no capital during this downturn?
The harsh fact is that the vast majority of guests, if not all, primarily expect HSIA but also now expect the freedom of wireless. However, even wireless needs wires, and this is disruptive. So when is it the best time to implement these changes? When it’s quiet! We do understand, though, that quiet means fewer guests, which means reduction in cash.
Nevertheless, when all the guests come rushing back – and they will (eventually) – you’ll all be too busy to start thinking about disrupting your now full hotel to deliver the services that all your guests are demanding!
You’ll also need to consider, whether re-signing a lengthy term with your revenue share partner really is the right way? Would it not be better to end the relationship now and take control of your service so that you are better able to compete and win your guests back?
Now is the best time to effect change and be ready for recovery, and RIEO, and indeed our finance and technology partners, are prepared to work with you to find the path of least pain or resistance and to help make ready your business for the return of all your tech savvy and demanding guests.
Remember – it’s not just Guest WiFi. It’s a phenomenal investment in your property’s IT infrastructure, and this is a great time to be installing.
