To Sheffield Park Hotel, high speed internet access matters!
The introduction of high speed internet access at Sheffield Park Hotel was implemented to meet growing customer demand, as more guests were requiring internet access in their rooms - this has now resulted in improved revenue for the hotel.

Sheffield Park Hotel is a contemporary hotel situated just south of Sheffield and boasts 95 stylish bedrooms and 10 function rooms. After decisions were made to carry out a comprehensive refurbishment of all the bedrooms at Sheffield Park, it was decided that high speed internet access should be installed in every room in order to provide a thorough service to guests.

In order to make internet access accessible to everyone staying in the hotel, and for it to become a source of revenue for the hotel, it was imperative that an internet provider was chosen that would not tie the hotel into a lengthy contract or who took the revenue for themselves.

RIEO Communications met the needs of Sheffield Park Hotel as they offer a completely unique service to their clients; once the high speed internet access has been installed, the hotel then has complete control over the pricing structure when charging guests for using the service. RIEO Communications service offers exceptional service, as ongoing support, expertise and the company ethos make them unique.

“Having made the investment in providing internet access to all our room’s it seems only right that we have the option of charging to individual requirements,” notes Ivar Van Diepen, General Manager of Sheffield Park. “If we want to adjust our rates in order to clinch a deal for a conference, we can do that. If you have a model where revenue is split then you don't have the same degree of flexibility.”

When installing high speed internet access throughout the hotel additional cables were also put in each room to give the hotel the capacity to meet future data requirements. “The hotel is well aware of the changes and evolutions that can affect this kind of technology,” comments Mark Teasdale, managing director of RIEO Communications. “The ability to offer high speed internet access is certainly a selling point - but it is increasingly becoming an expected feature. Having already implemented their solution, Sheffield Park are well positioned to be at the forefront of future services provision, giving great value for money today and ready to increase and adapt the service for guests in the future.”

While the hotel benefits from the freedom of owning the connection to the internet, it also has the security of knowing when things go wrong or if guests have problems, RIEO Communications is there to provide backup. “If something goes wrong with the network they are ready to help,” says Van Diepen, “And they're friendly to our guests when they call the helpline. Ninety nine point nine per cent of the time they will get them online using the service successfully.”
